Will the Mask Policy be Lifted?

Masks mandates will be lifted in school districts across the state of New Jersey, but for now FDU will continue requiring them on-campus.

The FDU community received an email  on Feb. 10 regarding a health and safety update from Dr. Robert Pignatello, the senior vice president for university operations.

Governor Phil Murphy announced that New Jersey will lift its statewide mask policy for schools K-12 and childcare facilities on Monday, Feb. 7.

Dr. Pignatello, however, says that does not directly affect universities and that the policy will remain for the time being.

“We will continue to monitor the situation closely and reevaluate our mask protocols in the weeks ahead,” said Dr. Pignatello, via email.

The school will continue to follow recommendations by the CDC and will continue to encourage the use of indoor masks.

The email also includes the most recent COVID-19 testing updates for the semester:

Students

Positive Tests: 35 (18 Florham, 17 Metro)

Negative Tests: 2,287

Faculty and Staff

Positive Tests: 0

Negative Tests: 31
