During “the year like no other,” Giovatto Library is providing reserved space to provide students a quiet place to study.
The Giovatto Library is offering reserved seating in the library, while following CDC library guidelines, as announced in an email.
Students have two sections to choose from: the Reading Room — located on the second floor — and the Periodicals — located on the first floor.
Students may only reserve a seat for themselves.
Students are required to “maintain six feet of separation” and wear a face mask at all times. Food and beverages are not allowed.
“Most of the students have been very cooperative,” Paul Dunphy, head research and instruction librarian, said via email, “the protocols are pretty much the same and haven’t really changed since Sept. 1.”
Students can make reservations to use library space up to one week in advance. Each study session is limited to four hours.
To confirm a study time, students must check-in or the reservation will be cancelled.
Additionally, students are required to use the provided sanitizing supplies before and after they are done with their station.
On the library homepage, a menu on the right hand side offers a reservation button and instructions on how to reserve seating in either of the available sections.
