Knights to Play in WNIT

Denied a trip to the NCAA tournament by its 72-60 loss to Sacred Heart in the Northeast Conference finals Sunday, head coach Ang Szumilo’s Knights will get to extend the season. FDU on Monday accepted an invitation to the 64-team Women’s National Invitational Tournament (WNIT).

FDU will travel to Columbia (23-5) Friday at 7 p.m.

The Knights need to regain the scoring touch that led the league this season in scoring (67+ points a game) and turn around a poor shooting performance, hitting just 37% from the floor, against No. 2 Sacred Heart (18-13).

Junior all-NEC forward Chloe Wilson (pictured below) led FDU with 19 points, and 6-0 senior Sierra DeAngelo added 15. Ella Fajardo, a 5-4 sophomore, added 11 off the bench.
