FDU now leads the nine-team Northeast Conference men’s soccer standings, beating host Long Island University 1-0 Sunday to stay unbeaten in the league.
Senior goalie Spencer King recorded four saves and earned his sixth shutout of the season and Knights’ captain Fallou Tounkara scored on Kevin Leonard’s corner kick 15:35 into the match on a clear cool day.
FDU improved to 6-5-2 overall, 4-0-1 in the league, while LIU fell to 3-2-1 in the NEC and 9-4-1 overall.
The Knights tallied six shots, three on-goal, while taking six corners and limiting LIU to one shot in the second half.
Leonard recorded his fifth assist of the season.
FDU hosts Central Connecticut Thursday, Oct. 20 at 7 p.m. in a match postponed Friday by inclement weather.
