The Knights had a disappointing showing in the Fairfield Invitational as they dropped three straight games against Fairfield, Washington State, and Howard.
FDU was unable to pick up a single-set victory over the course of the tournament, dropping nine consecutive in their three games played.
The Knights competed well in the first matchup against Fairfield as they lost by no more than four points in each of their sets. However, it was an offensive struggle for FDU as they put up just 27 kills as a team. Tatijana Fucka who was coming off NEC Co-Defensive Player of the Week honors was only able to supply three blocks and six kills for the game. Additionally, Kylie Nott who received NEC Rookie of the Week honors was only able to provide four kills and two blocks in the matchup.
Game two of the tournament had fewer positives for FDU as they were completely outmatched by Washington State. Their highest point total in three sets was 15 and they mustered up just 13 kills to WSU’s 29. Of course, it should be noted that FDU’s primary producers Tatijana Fucka, Kylie Nott, Sofia Rampazzo, and Allegra Rivas all sat for the game.
In the third and final game of the tournament, the Knights would suffer yet another sweep at the hands of Howard. The Knights were able to put together some effective offense with 29 kills but were simply outperformed at the net once again as the Bisons totaled 14 more kills than FDU.
FDU will now look to regroup in their next contest when they take on Lehigh on Tuesday, Sep. 13 at 7 p.m.
