The Knights secured an impressive victory against Rider 5-1 on Thursday, Sep. 8. FDU had little to be happy about through their first six games as they started out winless and scored just two total goals, all of which came in the first game of the season.

But now they can breathe a sigh of relief after picking up their first win of 2022.

FDU would strike early in the game as Theus Franziska earned her first goal of the season off an assist from Aitana Martinez-Montoya at the 6:37 mark. Theus would follow with another goal in the second period which helped pad the FDU lead.

Sophomore Forward Martinez-Montoya also got in on the action herself, scoring her second goal of the season in the 34th minute of the game.

Erica Petrie and Lea Egner would be responsible for the other two goals scored by the Knights on their way to the big win.

The key for the Knights was aggression as they attempted 27 total shots which was by far their highest shot attempt total of the season.

The Knights now have one game remaining before entering into the NEC portion of the schedule, and will surely look to ride all the momentum they can into those conference matchups. The win tonight was certainly a good place to start.

The next game for FDU will take place on Sep. 11 at 12 p.m. when they take on Binghamton at home.
