The men’s Tennis team officially found out on Monday, May 2 that they would be facing familiar foe Virginia in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.

The seventh seeded Virginia will be hosting the first and second rounds for both men’s and women’s championships.

The Knights finished in first place this season after winning the Northeast Conference Championship for the second consecutive year which led them to a spot in the NCAA tournament for the second time.

However, the Knights are very familiar with their opponent after losing to them 4-0 in last year’s tournament in the first round .

The Knights will look to turn it around this year as they look to make a historic run.

When asked about getting the chance to go back and face Virginia in the tournament, team captain Moric Budinszky said, “It is always exciting to play a top 10 team as we

rarely get the chance to do so in our regular season.”

“Facing them last year was a great learning experience for all of us. Playing them again gives us the perfect opportunity to show what we were able to take away from that match and achieve a better result this time around, ” Budinszky added.

The Knights first match will start on Friday, 6 and will play through Sunday, May 8 where they will hope to earn a spot in the next round of the tournament.
