The Knights surged through the competition in the NEC tournament on April 16, with a 4-3 victory over Bryant securing the teams 14th NEC title.
In round one of play, the Knights took care of Mount St. Mary’s in convincing fashion, winning 4-0. The teams of Mehdi Dhouib and Niclas Pietsch, and Younes Adnane and Justas Trainauskas handled doubles competition by scores of 6-1 and 6-4. The Knights then dominated singles matches to advance to the semifinals.
Against St. Francis Brooklyn, the Knights struggled early in doubles, dropping two games to the Terriers. However, they quickly recovered, taking the next four games in singles for the 4-2 semifinals match win.
The NEC tournament finale was a hard fought battle between the Bulldogs and the Knights. FDU set the tone early with two doubles victories to start out. Singles play was a back and forth affair between both squads but victories from Teodors Pukse, Mehdi Dhouib, Younes Adnane for the Knights would give them the match victory and the NEC championship trophy.
After a season in which they started 4-10, the Knights were quickly able to right the ship and can now proudly call themselves back to back NEC champions.
The post-season does not stop here as the team will now wait patiently to see who they face off against in the first round of the NCAA tournament.
