RECAP: FDU Puts Up Solid Showing in Sam Howell Invitational

Both the men’s and women’s track and field teams traveled to Princeton, NJ to compete in the Sam Howell Invitational at Weaver Stadium on Saturday, April 2.

Each team came up with some notable performances in their respective events.

Some of the women’s most notable performances came in the 100m hurdles, long jump and triple jump. Senior Aquilla St. Louis placed second in the 100m hurdles with a 15.06 finish time. 

FDU’s best performance came from junior Lisa Warfvinge, who placed fifth in the long jump with an average distance of 5.29. Warfvinge also secured a first place finish for the women’s team in the triple jump event, averaging an 11.87.

The Men also had some great performances in the 400m, 400m hurdles and discus. In the 400m, junior Conroy Ellis, freshman Malik Ricketts and senior Sandley Elysee finished top ten with respective times of 48.76, 48.80 and 49.32. In the 400m Hurdles, junior Kenroy Ellis placed second with an impressive 55.21 finish time. 

For the throws, FDU would shine in Discus as sophomore Tahj Mullings placed third with a 48.84 average distance. 

Up next, the Knights will compete in the Metropolitan Championships on April 8 and 9.
