The Knights track and field teams ended with several top finishes and even a personal record at the Rutgers Open last weekend.
Both the men’s and women’s track and field teams competed at The Armory in Bronx, N.Y on Friday, Feb. 11, and Saturday, Feb. 12.
For the men’s team, Ben Clay III earned a first-place finish in the shot put event with a mark of 17.69 meters. Clay’s throw mark became a personal record, even beating several top Big 10 schools such as Rutgers and Maryland, qualifying him for the shot put championship.
Salif Mane came in first place for the triple jump event with a 15.85m mark. Taeco O’Garro finished the event in second place with a close 15.34m mark.
Malik Ricketts earned second place in the 400-meter dash with a finish of 49.15.
For the women’s team, Dominyka Leskauskaite finished the triple jump event in fourth place with an 11.85m mark. Lisa Warfvinge came in fifth place with a close 11.76m mark.
Warfvinge also finished the long jump championship event in seventh place with a 5.50m mark.
The next event for the Knights will be the Northeast Conference Indoor Championships at the Ocean Breeze Complex in Staten Island, N.Y. on Sunday, Feb. 20.
