The Knights were able to bounce back after a difficult three game losing streak when they defeated Sacred Heart by a score of 82-75.

FDU put up a strong effort Saturday afternoon as they were able to jump out in front of the Pioneers midway through the first half. By the 8:44 mark, they had built up a 13 point lead by going on a 12-0 run. Despite a few runs from Sacred Heart to get the game back within one possession, FDU was able to hang on as they went up by 14 points late in the second half to shut the door on a comeback.

As a team, FDU finished 31-64 (48.4%) overall but struggled from three as they went 7-26 (26.9%) even though it did not play a factor in the outcome. The Knights also visited the line 17 times and knocked down 13 of those attempts (76.5 %).

FDU’s defense came up big, holding Sacred Heart to just 27-65 (41.5%) shooting overall and a staggering 4-21 (19%) from the 3-point line. Additionally, the Pioneers attempted 21 free throws and made 17 (81%).

Sebastien Lamaute was key in getting his squad the victory as he came away with 24 points in his 32 minutes of action. He also had some great help from his teammates, with Anquan Hill totalling an impressive 21 points and eight rebounds and Oscar Berry coming away with 16 points on 6-12 shooting overall and 4-8 shooting from long range.

As mentioned previously, the FDU defense made the game difficult for Sacred Heart. Although Bryce Johnson only missed one shot and finished with a 22 point and 13 rebound double-double, the rest of the squad struggled to run an efficient offense. Aaron Clarke would finish as the second leading scorer with 21 points but went 7-16 followed by Tyler Thomas who scored 13 points but finished 5-18.

With the win the Knights advance to 4-10 in the conference but still sit in last place in the NEC. FDU will look to string some victories together as they round out the regular season starting with their next game against Merrimack on Feb. 17 at 7 p.m.
