As the men’s volleyball team is setting up to begin their inaugural season, the Knights faced the NYU Violets in an exhibition game where they won 4-1 on Wednesday, Jan. 12. Although the game didn’t necessarily count as a win in their win column, there were many notable performances.
Artem Vetrov had a total of 11 kills and three digs while Jack Lydon had 10 kills. Grady Hoffman had six digs and one assist while Lorenzo Bonomo had three kills and four digs. Santiago La Jara had six kills while Rui Fernandes had 21 assists and two digs. The team had a combined total of 34 kills, 19 digs and 32 assists.
The Knights took the first three sets in what would have counted as the win in an official game while NYU took the fourth set and then FDU came back to win the fifth set.
As the Knights get ready to make history, they have their eye on the competition. The Knights will play their first game of the season on Friday Jan. 21 at 4 p.m. at the Harvard Invitational against King.
The first game at home will be on Tuesday, Jan. 25 at 7 p.m. against LIU in which will be an interesting matchup because both teams are in their inaugural seasons.
The excitement level from this team is high and it will be interesting to see what they do in their first season at FDU.
