Tonight the Knights will look to win their first game of the season when they take on the Northwestern Wildcats. This game marks the first time Elyjah Williams will meet his former Knights squad as a member of the Wildcats. Our assistant sports editor Jen Malti was able to catch up with the Northwestern star via text and get his thoughts on the matchup. “I’m excited, it’s something that’s been on my mind for a long time and I think it will be a great game against a young and very talented team that plays hard.”
Knights head coach Greg Herenda also had thoughts about the matchup.
“We are very excited to be playing at Northwestern, one of the great academic institutions in the world and they have a very good basketball program as well. On top of that, to compete against one of our graduates is extremely special,” Herenda said via email.
“Elyjah was one of the great student athletes to ever wear the burgundy and blue. Elyjah’s personality filled up every room that he walked into at FDU including the Rothman Center.”
Herenda also said, “He will be remembered as a player that helped bring us our first NCAA tournament victory in the school’s history and also one of the great people as well and he will soon have a graduate degree from Northwestern to go along with his Fairleigh Dickinson diploma.”
