The FDU Office of Global Learning hosted the virtual United Nations (UN) tour and special briefing with two representatives from the UN on Oct. 6.
The focus for the event was “Women and Political Participation.”
Presentations were led by Jonathan H. Mishal, tour guide for the visiting service section of the UN, and Lana Ackar, policy specialist at UN Women. The briefings covered women standing up for their rights, gender equality and the statistics of women’s involvement in politics.
“Women are on the rise on different political platforms,” said Ackar, “but there is still a ways to go.”
