LIVE BLOG: FDU Women’s Basketball Against Bryant, Game 2

5:45 p.m.

FDU sweeps the round-robin 64-58 to improve to 16-7, 12-6 while Bryant falls to 7-13, 5-12 to close out the regular season on a 7-game winning streak. 

The seeding for the NEC Tournament is not final, but should be final by the end of the weekend with FDU getting a first round opponent. 

FDU shot 5-10 (50%) from the field, 2-3 (66.7%) from three, and 3-4 (75%) from the free-throw line while Bryant shot 9-17 (52.9%) from the field, 2-3 (66.7%) from three, and 0-0 (0%) from the free-throw line.

In total, FDU shot 26-60 (43.3%) from the field, 9-25 (36%) from three, and 3-6 (50%) from the free-throw line as Bryant shot 25-60 (41.75) from the field, 5-15 (33.3%) from three, and 3-4 (75%) from the free-throw line.

Stanley led the Knights with 13 points and grabbing 5 rebounds. Carbonell and Wilson both scored 11 points off the bench while Selvaggi added 8. 

Bjelko recorded a double-double for Bryant, scoring 23 points to lead all scorers and grabbing 10 rebounds. Perkins added 14 points, knocking down four three-pointers.

Stanley hits a pair to extend the FDU lead to 64-58 and ice the win for the Knights.

5:37 p.m.

Bjelko fouls Stanley, sending her back to the line with 6 seconds left and the Knights up 62-58. 

5:35 p.m.

Stanley hits one of two from the line, but extends the FDU lead to 62-56 with 22 seconds to go.

The Bulldogs are forced to foul with 22 seconds remaining, sending Stanley to the free-throw line with the Knights in front 61-56.

Perkins steps back and drills the three with 40 seconds left to cut the FDU lead to 61-56. She has 14 points for Bryant.

5:30 p.m.

Bjelko gets it to fall once again off the assist by Perkins. She has had it clicking all game long, but the Bulldogs still trail the Knights 61-53 with 1:27 remaining.

5:29 p.m.

Gallagher hits the jumper to cut the FDU lead to 61-51 with just over two minutes remaining. The Bulldogs are not going down quietly in this one.

5:28 p.m.

Bjelko banks in the jump hook. She has 21 points as the Bulldogs trail the Knights 61-49 with 2:50 left.

5:27 p.m.

Golden’s jumper is good to cut the FDU lead to 61-47 with 3:31 to go in the game.

5:26 p.m.

Selvaggi lays it in and DeAngelo hits a three on the next possession to extend the FDU lead to 61-45 with 3:59 to go in the game. The Knights are starting to pull away here in the fourth quarter.

5:25 p.m.

Gallagher hits a three as the Bulldogs continue to try and stay in this one at the halfway point of the final quarter of play. FDU leads Bryant 56-45.

5:24 p.m.

Roters gets to the basket and gets the layup to go off the assist by DeAngelo. The Knights have pushed their lead back up to 56-42 with 5:55 to go.

5:23 p.m.

Selvaggi cans the open three off the find by Stanely. FDU’s lead is 54-42 with 6:17 left.

5:22 p.m.

Taylor and Bjelko get layups to go to cut the FDU lead back down to single digits. It is 51-42 with 6:42 remaining in the fourth quarter.

5:21 p.m.

Carbonell lays it in to extend the FDU lead to 51-38 with 8:40 to go in the game. She has 11 points.

5:20 p.m.

FDU leads 49-38 going into the fourth quarter.

FDU shot 8-18 (44.4%) from the field, 4-7 (57.1%) from three, and 0-0 (0%) from the free-throw line as Bryant shot 6-13 (46.25) from the field, 1-5 (20%) from three, and 2-2 (100%) from the free-throw line.

In total, FDU shot 21-51 (41.2%) from the field, 7-22 (31.8%) from three, and 0-2 (0%) from the free-throw line as Bryant shot 16-45 (35.6%) from the field, 2-12 (25%) from three, and 3-4 (75%) from the free-throw line.

Wilson led the way for the Knights with 11 points off the bench with Stanley adding 10 and Carbonell scoring 9 off the bench. 

Bjelko has 17 points for the Bulldogs to lead all scorers. She also grabbed 9 rebounds. 

Perkins added 11 points for Bryant.

5:16 p.m.

Bjelko lays it in to end the third quarter of play and cut the FDU lead to 49-38 with 24 seconds to go in the quarter.

5:15 p.m.

Mariona Planes sinks a pair from the free-throw line, but Stanley answers knocking down a jumper. Stanley now has 10 points as the Knights are in control, leading 49-36 with 51 seconds left in the quarter. 

Wilson cuts to the basket and puts in the layup off the assist by Roters. FDU has their biggest lead of the game as they try and pull away up 47-34 with 1:51 to go in the third quarter.

5:12 p.m.

Stanley finds Carbonell who knocks down another three-pointer. She has 9 points off the bench for FDU, all of which have come from behind the arc. The Knights lead 45-34 with 2:16 left in the quarter. 

Scott’s layup is good as Perkins responds with a three to push the FDU lead back down to 8 with 2:40 to go in the quarter. Perkins has 11 points for Bryant.

5:09 p.m.

Carbonell hits her second three of the game to make it 40-31 with 3:30 remaining in the third quarter.

5:08 p.m.

Wilson sticks the open three from the corner to push the FDU lead back up to 37-31 with 4:13 to go in the quarter. She has 9 points off the bench for the Knights.

5:04 p.m.

Selvaggi drills the open three off the assist by Mack. Taylor responds hitting a jumper from the baseline. The Bulldogs are hanging around, but the Knights lead 34-31 with 6:07 left in the third quarter. 

Bjelko is picking up where she left off in the first half as she backs down Stanley and gets the tough lefty hook to go. Bryant is within one, trailing 31-29 with 7:15 remaining in the quarter.

5:03 p.m.

Bjelko gets to the basket and gets it to fall. She is up to 13 points for the game as the Bulldogs trail 31-27 with nine minutes to go in the quarter. 

Perkins’ jumper is good to open up the second half scoring as Stanley answers at the other end laying it in. FDU leads 31-25 with 9:23 to go in the third quarter of play.

4:46 p.m.

FDU leads 29-23 at the half in a close scoring game. 

In the second quarter, FDU shot 8-17 (47.1%) from the field, 2-8 (25%) from three, and 0-0 (0%) from the free-throw line as Bryant shot 6-12 (50%) from the field, 1-3 (33.3%) from three, and 0-0 (0%) from the free-throw line.

In total, FDU shot 13-32 (40.6%) from the field, 3-15 (20%) from three, and 0-2 (0%) from the free-throw line as Bryant shot 10-30 (33.3%) from the field, 2-7 (28.6%) from three, and 1-2 (50%) from the free-throw line. 

Stanley and Wilson led the way for the Knights with 6 points. Mack added 5 points for FDU. 

Bjelko had the hot hand in the first half, scoring 11 points and grabbing 6 rebounds for Bryant. Perkins added 6 points for the Bulldogs.

4:42 p.m.

Mack lays it in as DeAngelo drills the three on the next possession to extend the FDU lead to 29-23 with 14 seconds to go in the half.

4:41 p.m.

It is Bjelko again getting inside and laying it in. She has got it going with 11 points for Bryant as the Knights remain in front 24-23 with 1:24 remaining in the half.

4:40 p.m.

Gallagher hits the step-back jumper to cut the Bulldogs’ deficit to 24-21 with two minutes left in the first half.

4:38 p.m.

Bjelko banks in the mid-range jumper to cut the FDU lead down to five. She has 9 points leading all scorers as Bryant trails 24-19 with 3:14 to go in the half.

4:37 p.m.

Mariona Planes Fortuny drives and gets the layup to fall with a hand in her face. That makes it 24-17 in favor of the Knights with 4:24 left in the half.

4:36 p.m.

Another offensive rebound by Wilson leads to second chance points for the Knights. She has 6 points for FDU as they lead 24-15 with 5:41 remaining in the first half of play.

4:35 p.m.

Taylor finds the open Perkins who knocks down a three to cut the FDU lead down to 22-15 with 6:04 to go in the half. She has 6 points for the Bulldogs.

4:33 p.m.

Stanley’s layup is good off the assist by Wilson. She has 6 points as the Knights lead 22-12 with seven minutes left in the second quarter.

4:32 p.m.

Taylor off the drive banks in the contested layup to cut the FDU lead back down to single digits. It is 20-12 with 7:44 to go in the half.

4:31 p.m.

Roters gets the steal as Stanley misses a three, but Wilson is right there to clean up. She puts it back up and in off the offensive rebound. The Knights lead is 20-10 with 8:08 left in the first half.

4:30 p.m.

Celia Carbonell drills the three to extend the FDU lead to 18-10 with 8:21 to go in the half.

4:29 p.m.

Stanley’s layup falls to push the FDU lead up to 15-10 with nine minutes to go in the second quarter.

Stanley finds a cutting Roters who gets the layup to go. The Knights lead 13-10 with 9:52 remaining in the first half.

4:28 p.m.

Scott makes the tough layup to give FDU an 11-10 lead at the end of the first quarter.

FDU shot 5-15 (33.3%) from the field, 1-7 (14.3%) from three, and 0-2 (0%) from the free-throw line as Bryant shot 4-18 (22.2%) from the field, 1-4 (25%) from three, and 1-2 (50%) from the free-throw line.

Roters leads FDU with 4 points as Bjelko leads Bryant with 7 points.

4:27 p.m.

Perkins finds Bjelko on the fast break who banks in the layup. She has 7 points for the Bulldogs as they lead 10-9 with 23 seconds remaining in the first quarter.

Wilson drives and lays it in to give FDU a 9-8 leaf with 56 seconds to go in the quarter.

4:25 p.m.

Stanley drills the corner jumps shot to cut the Bryant lead to 8-7 with 1:17 to go in the quarter.

Wilson draws the foul on Golden. That is her second personal foul so the Bulldogs now have two starters with two fouls here in the first quarter. Wilson misses both to keep the score 8-5 with two minutes to go in the first quarter.

4:24 p.m.

Perkins hits the three to give the Bulldogs a 8-5 lead with 2:55 remaining in the quarter.

4:21 p.m.

Gallagher is called for the charge. Early foul trouble for Bryant as that is her second personal foul. Stephanie Mayerhofer checks in for Gallagher with 4:20 to go in the first quarter of play.

4:17 p.m.

Scott finds Mack who knocks down the three to tie the game at 5 with 5:59 remaining in the quarter.

4:16 p.m.

Bjelko gets to the basket and is fouled by Mack. She splits a pair to make the score 5-2 Bulldogs with 6:16 left in the first quarter. She has come out aggressive for Bryant, scoring all 5 points to start the game. 

Bjelko’s layup is good to give the Bulldogs a 4-2 lead with 7:49 to go in the quarter.

4:10 p.m.

FDU’s starting lineup is Madeline Selvaggi, Devyn Scott, Maria Roters, Lindsey Mack and Madison Stanley. 

Bryant’s starting lineup is Nicole Gallagher, Brooke Bjelko, Alana Perkins, Juliette Golden and Kandis Taylor.
