LIVE BLOG: FDU Women’s Basketball Against Mount Saint Mary’s, Game 1

With a strong start from the beginning of the game FDU extends their winning streak to 4 defeating Mount St. Mary’s 59-54. 

FDU shot 24-49 (49%), 5-13 (38.5%) from the field, and 6-10 (60%) from the free-throw line. Mount St. Mary’s shot 22-65 (33.8%), 5-22 (22.7%) from the three, and 5-9 (55.6%) from the free-throw line. 

Roters led FDU with 18 points and Stanley with 16 points. Mack also contributed with 12 points. 

For Mount St. Mary’s, Bresee led the team with 23 points. Taylor added 16 point as Tomasetti added 4 points. 

Roters continues to shine after she was named NEC player of the week.

Mount St. Mary’s ends their winning streak and faces their first loss at home.

Good evening and welcome to another women’s basketball live blog as the FDU Knights will be taking on the Mount St. Mary’s Mountaineers at the Knott Arena in Emmitsburg, Maryland for the first of two games in the NEC round-robin. 

I am Jen Malti, the assistant sports editor of The Equinox. Our Editor-in-Chief Elizabeth Scalzo will be producing the live blog for tonight with our student lifestyle editor Naniyah McClain updating twitter throughout the game. 

FDU is coming in with a three game winning streak with its most recent win being against Merrimack with a score of 73-64. FDU is now  7-4 in the season and 3-3 in conference play. While Mount St. Mary’s is 6-3 in the season and has a NEC record of 5-1. FDU currently sits in 5th in the NEC while Mount St. Mary’s is ranked second. 

For FDU, senior forward Madison Stanley leads the team with 12.4 PPG with sophomore guard Maria Roters is averaging 10.5 PPG. Sophomore guard Sierra Deangelo is also averaging 8.9 PPG and junior guard Lindsey Mack is averaging 8.0 PPG. The Knights hope to continue their winning streak with a win against Mount St. Mary’s. 

For Mount St. Mary’s, redshirt senior Kendall Bresee leads the team with 14.8 PPG. Junior guard Michaela Harrison is averaging 11.5 PPG. Redshirt sophomore guard Aryna Taylor is averaging 11.4 PPG. Mount St. Mary’s is also coming in with a two game winning streak as they also hope to continue.
