Caldiero to Oversee Metro Communication Dept.

Editor-in-Chief

Christopher Caldiero is the new deputy chairman of the FDU Communication department, with responsibility for the Metropolitan campus, Gary Radford, the chairman of the communication department, announced by email Friday.

The email was sent to 37 FDU student emails for the Metropolitan communication department.

Caldiero’s new role will make him the point person for communication students at the Metropolitan campus for questions regarding academic advising, courses and any other concerns about academics within the department.

Caldiero has taught at the Florham campus, but there is not any information at this time regarding if he will move offices to the Metropolitan campus. The Equinox plans to ask in an interview next week.

After the retirement of Dr. Karen Buzzard, the FDU Metropolitan campus director of the department of communication, in May and the merger between the FDU Metropolitan and Florham communication programs effective this semester, Metro students were left wondering who would oversee the communication department at our campus.

According to the FDU website, Caldiero joined the communication department at FDU in 2006, and was an associate professor at FDU prior to his new role.

He received his doctorate degree from Rutgers University and focused on corporate and crisis communication. Caldiero taught at Montclair State University and Rutgers University before coming to FDU.

Before his teaching career, Caldiero worked for CBS Sports for nearly 10 years.

Aside from his administrative and professor duties, Caldiero also oversees the FDU chapter of the Public Relations Student Society of America, according to the FDU website.
