With so many students affected economically by the coronavirus pandemic, FDU has released an online application for CARES Act Federal stimulus funds for students.

President Christopher Capuano told The Equinox last week that FDU will receive nearly $3 million earmarked for students as part of the $2 trillion stimulus package passed by the U.S. Congress in late March.

FDU sent out an email on Monday, May 11, 2020, that outlined the criteria, and how a student can apply for funds.

The deadline to apply for funding is May 23, 2020. The application can be found in WebAdvisor at https://webadvisor.fdu.edu/.  The form is located in the student’s menu under Financial Aid.

Funds for students must be used to cover expenses related to the disruption of campus operations due to coronavirus, according to the United States Department of the Treasury. Eligible expenses include food, housing, course materials, technology, and child-care expenses. Loss of job or income does not meet the eligibility requirements for CARES Act funds.

These four criteria must also  be met for an individual to be eligible to receive funding:

The student must also have been enrolled in at least one on-campus class prior to March 13, 2020.

The money can certainly help individuals get back on their feet.
