FDU fell to the Robert Morris Colonials 48-35 on Sunday, Feb 23. FDU dropped to 10-16 overall with a 7-8 record in the NEC, while Robert Morris improved to 20-7 with a 15-1 record in the NEC.
Freshman guard Maria Roters led the way for the Knights with 12 points. Senior forward Lauren Francillon had 10 points and 9 rebounds.
FDU shot 13-49 (26.5%) from the field, 4-18 (22.2%) from three, and 5-6 (83.3%) from the free-throw line.
The Colonials were led by sophomore guard Natalie Villaflor with 9 points and junior center Irekpitan Ozzy-Momodu with 8 points.
Robert Morris shot 18-56 (32.1%) from the field, 4-15 (26.7%) from three, and 8-8 (100%) from the free-throw line.
The Knights have yet to clinch a spot in the NEC tournament, but it looks like they will have a spot. The only thing that will be up for grabs is their seeding in the conference tournament over the team’s three final regular-season games.
The Knights were hurt by injuries all season as senior forwards Charee Osborne, Jenna Clark, guard Elise Graham, and junior forward Madison Stanley have all been on the shelf for a majority of the season.
The Knights should still be able to qualify, and possibly make a deep run in the NEC tournament if they get team healthy for postseason play.
Robert Morris now sits at first in the conference, while FDU sits in fifth in the conference.
The Knights next game will be at Bryant on Sat. Feb. 29.
