The Knights notched their 10th win of the season as they defeated LIU 64-50 at home on Friday, Feb. 21 on senior day.

The Knights improved to 10-15 with a 7-7 record in the NEC, while LIU fell to 6-19 with a 5-9 record in the NEC.

Senior forwards Lauren Francillon, Courtney Blankenship, Charee Osborne, Jenna Clark, and senior guard Elise Graham were all honored in a pre-game ceremony.

LIU was led by sophomore guard Brandy Thomas’ 13 points.

The Sharks shot 18-55 (32.7%) from the field, 5-16 (31.3%) from three and 9-14 (64.3%) from the free-throw line.

The Knights will look to extend their winning streak to three games as they host Robert Morris on Sunday, Feb. 23 at 1 p.m.

FDU now sits fifth in the NEC Standings, while LIU is in ninth place. The Knights are getting closer to securing their spot in the NEC tournament, while LIU’s chances are starting to fade as they are at the bottom of the standings.

The team was 8-22 and 5-13 conference in the NEC during the 2018-2019 season.

The Knights have made quite the turnaround since last season. They have a .500 record in conference and head coach Angelika Szumilo, in her first year, has made this team a contender.
