FDU’s losing woes continued as they fell on the road to Sacred Heart 77-60 on Saturday, Jan. 25.

FDU falls to 4-15 on the season with a 2-6 record in the NEC, while Sacred Heart improves to 12-9 with a 5-3 record in the NEC.

Senior forward Kaleb Bishop scored his 1,000th point on a layup in the first half. He is the second Knights player to surpass 1,000 points as junior guard Jahlil Jenkins surpassed the mark earlier this season.

 Bishop finished with 13 points.

Redshirt junior guard Xzavier Malone-Key led the Knights with 14 points. Sophomore guard Brandon Powell added 10 points. Jenkins had an off night as he finished with 8 points. Freshman guard Devon Dunn added 8 points, and junior forward Elyjah Williams had 7 points.

The Knights shot 24-55 (43.6%) from the field, 3-12 (25%) from three, and 9-15 (60%) from the free-throw line.

The Pioneers had five players in double-figures as sophomore guard Koreem Ozier had 16 points and 8 rebounds. Preseason All-NEC junior guard/forward E.J. Anosike had a double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds.

Sophomore guard Aaron Clarke had 13 points. Freshman guard Tyler Thomas and redshirt Senior guard Kinnon LaRose both had 10 points.

The Pioneers shot 27-53 (50.9%) from the field, 9-26 (34.6%) from three, and 14-25 (56%) from the free throw line.

The Knights season has taken a turn for the worst as the reigning NEC champs look lost on the court. They have 10 games left in the season to give them a shot at a lower seed in the NEC tournament, but for now the odds are not in their favor.

The Knights will have to muster up a 5 game winning streak to at least get back into contention in the NEC. If not, Knights will have gone from the top of the conference to the bottom of the conference within one year’s time.

FDU will travel to play Wagner on Thursday, Jan. 30 at 7 p.m. while Sacred Heart will host Mount Saint Mary’s on Thursday, Jan. 30 at 12 p.m.
