The FDU Women’s Golf team took home the 1st place trophy in this year’s Hartford Invitational. The Knights finished in first ahead of Lehigh by 20 strokes.
Junior Caterina Tatti shot a total of 142 (69, 73) and her Sunday score of 73 (+3) was just enough to get the individual title for the Knights. Junior Nicola Smith finished with a score of 145 (74,71) to move her to third place.
Sophomore Tomita Arejola and junior Julia Warke both finished in fourth with each having a score of 149. Freshman Victoria Schroedl finished 14th with a score of 153 (76,77).
“I was very excited because it was my first collegiate win, but I have been putting in a lot of effort in since the summer and was feeling confident, Junior Caterina Tatti said. “I was a bit nervous going into the last round, but I was happy that I won.”
This is the Knight second first place finish this year. The Knights placed first in the FDU Knight Invitational and they placed fifth in the Boston Colleg Intercollegiate.
This is their third invitational this season and with two first place finishes, this is a great start to the season.
“It was a great feeling to get a second win in three games, especially as one of the team (Caterina Tatti) also clinched the individual too, Junior Nicola Smith said. “We knew if we played well then we would have a good chance, we just had to grind it out.”
The Knights will travel to Baltimore, Maryland for the Towson Invitational at Eagles Nest Country Club on October 14-16. This will be the Knights fourth invitational of the season.
The Kights will close out the season at the Lehigh Invitational on October 21-22.
