Taraji P. Henson once again hits the big screen to star in the newest comedy film, “What Men Want.” The movie, directed by Adam Shankman, made nearly a whopping $6.6 million on the first day, according to Box Office Mojo. The movie has grossed over $30 million and climbing.
The cast is made up of a range of first-time actors to nominated and award-winning actresses and actors. Stars include Taraji P. Henson, Aldis Hodge, Tracy Morgan, Roshawn Franklin, Josh Brener, and even Shaquille O’Neal.
In the 2019 comedy, Henson plays Ali Davis, a hot shot, no prisoner-taking sports agent that is vying for a position of partner at her job. Davis thinks she is guaranteed the position due to her hard work ethic and multiple clients.
However, Davis soon finds out that another one of her male colleagues has been chosen to fill this position. Angered by such a decision, Davis goes to visit her father, played by Golden Globe nominee, Richard Roundtree, at his boxing studio to vent out her feelings.
Davis continues to wallow in her anger the next day at her friend Mari’s bachelorette party, played by actress Tamala Jones. At the party, Davis’s other friend Olivia, played by Wendi McLendon-Covey, hires a psychic before they go out partying.
Famous singer Erykah Badu plays the psychic, Sister, who reads Davis’ future and has her drink a Haitian tea to help her communicate with men better. Cue the pre-gaming and early 2000’s clubbing and you have the recipe for a party gone wrong.
After hitting her head at the club, Davis realizes that she can now hear men’s thoughts. Davis uses this power to finally change her luck when it comes to men. From the workplace to the bedroom, Davis now has the keys to open the “glass ceiling.”
Only question is, how does she use them? Simple, in a hilarious adventure that you have to see to believe. Which in the end may just answer the question of, what do men really want?
