On Saturday, the FDU women’s basketball team lost a tough home game against Northeast Conference undefeated Robert Morris, 63-43. The Knights struggled mightily on offense as they shot 15-43 (34.9 percent) from the field en route to the Knights’ 14th loss in 20 games.

The crowd was quiet as the Knights trailed throughout. Afterwards, the fans applauded the team for its effort against the best team in the conference.

Junior 6-2 center Nneka Ezeigbo led the Colonials with 12 points and 8 rebounds,

Senior guard Madelynn Comly led FDU with 11. Sophomore forward Madison Stanley added 7 points.

“Robert Morris with a 9-0 record has been the best team in our conference and we really thought we matched up as good as anybody with them and (as) we showed over the last three quarters, we played them even or close to even particularly defensively, holding them under fifteen points in the second, third, and fourth quarter, but that first quarter was too much for us to overcome and they did hit their shots in the first quarter,” said FDU coach Peter Cinella.

The Knight fall to 6-14 with a 3-6 record in the NEC. Robert Morris extends its winning streak to nine games and improves to 12-8 with a 9-0 record in the NEC. The Knights will look to bounce back from this loss when they travel to play St. Francis Brooklyn on Feb. 9.
