The Knights play NEC foe Central Connecticut State University Thursday night at 7 p.m. in the home conference opener after traveling some 3,367 miles in 17 days in a four-game, three-loss trek over the holiday break that ended in a 79-61 romp at St. Francis (Pa.).
Four players are averaging double figures in points for FDU this season: Darnell Edge (15.9), Xzavier Malone-Key (13.1), Jahlil Jenkins (13.3) and Mike Holloway Jr (10.9).
Malone-Key has scored 10 or more points in 11 of his 13 games this season and ranks second in the NEC with a 49.2 field-goal percentage.
The Knights have a ball-hawking defense, mixing a press, man and 2-3 zone to average 8.9 steals a game to lead the league and rank 22nd in the nation.
The Knights were 1-1 against CCSU last season. They were victorious 81-77 at the Rothman Center and lost 66-65 on the road.
