For the third year in a row, The Equinox has won multiple awards in the New Jersey Press Foundation’s College Newspaper Contest. Editor-in-Chief Melanie Perez won second place in the Column/Opinion Writing category for her editorial on academic advising, entitled “Broken Advisement Harms Students’ Futures.” Managing Editor Theresa King received third place in the Feature Writing category for her story on the presidential debate at Hofstra University called “A Witness to History.” This is King’s second NJPF award, as last year she received first place in the Column/Opinion Writing category for the column, “Government Calls Womanhood a Luxury.” With these newest achievements, The Equinox has now won seven college journalism awards in the past three years.
