FDU Responds to Water Problem

In the last issue of The Equinox, an article on the water quality on campus was run. The following is an update sent to the campus community on Oct. 17 from Provost Vodde on the status of water fixtures on campus.  The water shut-off has already occured.

The Facilities Department will be temporarily shutting off the domestic water supply in a number of buildings in order to replace equipment.  The shutdowns will begin at 6 a.m. and we expect to have the water service restored by 9 a.m., barring any unforeseen circumstances

The shutdowns will take place in the affected building on the following dates:

Becton Hall – 10/19/16

University Hall – 10/20/16

Muscarelle Hall – 10/21/16

Field House – 10/24/16

Giovatto Library – 10/25/16

Alumni Hall – 10/26/16

In an interview, President Capuano said that the “supply is fine, but some locations where we dispense water is not fine.”

On why students were not notified of the water situation, President Capuano said that “there should have been a communication to the students.”

According to President Capuano, the university is “in the middle of remediation and repair.”
